Echos of the Past
Bringing the idea of a military styled movie into the Star Wars universe. In the same theme as movies such as American Sniper, Lone Survivor and Hacksaw ridge, and bringing that into the story line of Star Wars characters. Following the story of the character “Echo” His journey as a rogue agent after the loss of his squad over the years.
The characters already existed from the Clone Wars TV show and had an established design I wanted to stay faithful to. As well as our center character “Echo”.
The challenge and design process came in the form of crafting a scene that properly portrayed the dread and lonley feeling that overwhelms echo, as he tries to carry on without his brothers.
Taking inspiration from themes found in movies like “Saving Private Ryan” and “Hacksaw Ridge. I really wanted to hammer home on the lone survivor aspect.
CONCEPTUALIZING
Star Wars has always been a close reference for me, within my work style and fanart. So when it came to the characters and design of the work. It wasn’t a challenge. However the challenge did lie in creating a darker, and more somber feeling within the poster. To try and convey the feeling of dread these military movies normally do. While also trying to highlight a small glimmer of hope within our main character, to contrast his environment.
