Predator vs Bugs Bunny

When wacky meets deadly, you get the battle of the century. Taking the comic relief Bugs Bunny and putting him up against the lethal hunter himself, the predator. Providing a very interesting challenge of how to illustrate two characters with such differing designs, and composing them together in a cohesive scene. The challenge to make Bugs intimidating enough to face the predator, without losing his charm was interesting to say the least but provides for a very fun piece.

The predator was the easiest part of this Illustration. He’s right within my style of character, I understand anatomy well, and I knew I could make him recognizable yet unique.

The challenge arised with Bugs. Trying to turn our cartoon friend into a viable opponent to the predator seemd like a themeatic nightmare.

His design jumped around quite drasticlly. Changing from a boxer, to an almost Hulk like form. Untill I looped back to his original design and just pushed that to a more realistic look.

CONCEPTUALIZING

In terms of anatomy. physique and posing, The Predator was the east part. However pairing him against Bugs proved to be the challenge. Trying to take a comical cartoon character and treat him as a serious fighter proved to put some roadblocks in the way. Bouncing around his design to some very obscure ideas, but eventually going to the more recognizable design, and relying on the pose, expression and scene to convince the audience of the story.
